NATIONAL GROUPS OF IABMAS
To better coordinate its activities, the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS) provides the possibility of establishing national groups. At present (December 2023) there are fifteen national groups: Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Italy, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Turkey, USA, Spain, Canada, Denmark and Sweden.
IABMAS Portugal Group (ASCP)

ASCP intends to promote technical and scientific cooperation and contribute to the dissemination and development of the bridge maintenance and safety subject; and to ensure the Portuguese representation in IABMAS.

IABMAS China Group

The IABMAS China Group intends to build a professional academic organization in the field of bridge maintenance, safety and management in China and to establish a platform for both domestic and international communication within IABMAS. The number of IABMAS China Group members is 300 (April 2016)

IABMAS Italy Group

The IABMAS Italy Group was formed with the intent of establishing a reference for scholars, researchers and designers in order to promote a fruitful synergy between theory and practice in the field of bridges and viaducts, fostering dialogue between the academic community, the professional community, operators in the building industry, manufacturers of advanced materials, management institutions and administrations of public and private infrastructure networks.

IABMAS Brazil Group

Besides promoting conferences, symposia and workshops, the IABMAS Brazil Group aims to disseminate knowledge in the area of maintenance and structural safety of bridges in accordance with the objectives of IABMAS.

The IABMAS Japan Group intends to promote innovation and technology in the field of bridge design, construction, and maintenance. It ensures the representation of Japan in IABMAS involving students, researchers and engineers from all areas of bridge engineering. It connects academic community, engineers in design and construction industry, and administrations of public and private infrastructure sectors to effectively bridge the gap between theory and practice in the field of bridge engineering.

IABMAS Turkey Group
The IABMAS Turkey Group intends to encourage and coordinate knowledge and information sharing for research, development, and practice in the area of bridge maintenance, safety, and management with a focus on current and future needs of the community. The IABMAS Turkey Group promotes International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS)’s mission in Turkey. It establishes a platform for both domestic and international communication within IABMAS and ensures Turkish representation in IABMAS.

IABMAS Korea Group

The IABMAS Korea Group intends to strengthen cooperation and connection between scholars, researchers, designers and practitioners in the area of bridge engineering. It encourages and supports various and creative activities of young engineers and students in design, analysis and maintenance fields. It promotes and contemplates academic events and activities such as training programs, technical symposium, and conferences to share information and knowledge between diverse parties. It contributes to build strong relationship between academic community, engineering society, construction industry and administrations of public and private infrastructure sectors. It designs various advertising campaign to encourage design, construction, and management of bridge engineering in Korea.

IABMAS Sri Lanka Group

Sri Lanka, the Pearl in the Indian Ocean, formed its national group with the aim of promoting research and development in the areas of bridge maintenance, safety, and management, emphasizing current and future needs of the country. The group promotes professional meetings, workshops, and collaborative research to develop necessary expertise and human resources demanded by the significant investment in infrastructure development. The group provides a venue for Sri Lankan engineers to interact with the global engineering community that promotes IABMAS ideals.
